Tempest was one of the famous maxi-racers ordered by Jim Killroy in 1974 and one of the first aluminium maxis ever built. She has a racing record second to none. Originally designed by Sparkman & Stephens, the yacht was completely refitted in 1999/2000 under supervision of Hoek Design at Holland Jachtbouw. She was stripped to the bare hull and her bulkheads repositioned to create a performance cruising yacht. Carbon spars, new teak decks, a new paint system, a completely new interior and new systems gave Tempest a whole new lease on life. We carried out all the naval architectural and interior design work for this extensive refit/rebuild. Tempest underwent a complete refit again in 2009/2010. The cockpit was enlarged and the deck layout modified. She was launched again in 2010 with the original white colour of her hull restored.
