Three Truly Classic 78s have been launched so far: Heartbeat, Drumfire and Bontekoning. While Heartbeat and Drumfire shared a similar interior and deck layout, they were thoroughly personalised. A unique feature of both yachts is their double cockpit and double coach roof layout. This allowed a large and airy aft owner’s cabin to be integrated within the classic hull shape. Drumfire is built to MCA and has a permanent crew in separate quarters. Drumfire is extensively optimised to sail in the Spirit of Tradition class and has a large sail area that is ideal for Mediterranean conditions, while carbon spars, tall sail plans, and relatively deep keels – 3.4 m for Drumfire – ensure high stability in the Caribbean. Performance has been optimised using our in-house velocity prediction program and wind tunnel testing. The deck/interior layout is unique for this type of yacht, including an aft steering station as well as a forward social cockpit. Additional interior volume is created for both the owner’s cabin and saloon by the coach roofs.
