COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS (CFD)
Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is the use of computers to analyse the resistance and lift forces on and around the hull, rudder and keel in different conditions. This helps us optimise the rudder/keel/hull flow around the appendages to ensure optimal performance. Over the past four years we have worked closely with Numeca International to develop and improve the CFD software Fine/Marine that is specifically made to study yachts’ hydrodynamics. These enormous investments in the future have also entailed training people how to use the programs, which takes at least a year!
