Lionheart and Firefly Crowned J-Class and Supermaxi Champions in Sardinia!

12 September 2014

With her third J-Class regatta win of the season, Lionheart has completed an extraordinary hat-trick of victories at this year's Rolex Maxi Worlds in Sardinia. It was a week of extremely close racing with a combination of windward leewards and coastal races  against the stunning scenery of the Costa Smerelda.

The fourth day of racing saw Lionheart fight her way back to first position but with three Js on equal points it was all to play for in the final race. A strong, steady breeze of 18 knots produced some of the most exciting racing of the week, but once again it was to be Lionheart's trophy, with an unbeaten record in this year's series of J-Class regattas.

With fierce competition in the Super Maxi Class, the F-Class Firefly proved again to be hard to beat. With close racing against rival Inoui, the Owner and crew secured their rightful place on the podium after winning an exceptional four out of the five races, claiming the coveted Rolex for the second year running.

With their sincere determination and serious efforts, both yachts have made the teams at Hoek Design and Claasen Shipyards proud, and our congratulations go to the Owners and crew on their fantastic achievements!
