Wallynano is the contemporary-classic daysailor brainchild of Andre Hoek and Luca Bassani. Based on the 60 meter Pilgrim Project, the 36-foot boat uniquely combines classic lines with the most advanced construction technology, design techniques and sailing features, resulting stylish, appealing, timeless and fast.
The aim of Wally and Hoek Design is to establish the Wallynano as a new world wide monotype division taking part in the most important international regattas.
Construction
Wallynano is built in Italy using the latest advanced composite technology by Wally using a sandwicht of carbon fiber and epoxy resin. The mast and the boom are also in carbon fibre. As a result, the displacement of Wallynano is 2,600 kg (5,720 lbs).
Design
The mega yacht Pilgrim ideas are developed into a 36-foot boat. The challenge was to design an innovative boat in this already widely exploited size range: a completely new and unique project combining all the Wally features like the flush deck, the clean lines, the simple and easy handling.
The hull design has been extensively researched and tested with VPP’s and CFD analysis, and four CNC models were cut before the moulds were milled.
Wallynano has a spectacular aft transom overhang and a plumb bow, creating a long water line with a magnificent retro look.
Deck layout
Wallynano has a flush deck completely covered by teak and a cabin top with vertical glass sides to offer the inside-outside living concept. The deck features a large open cockpit with integrated aft deck, creating a large sunbathing area.
Easy sailing
Wallynano can be sailed single handed, with a self tacking jib and Hydraulic Controls for the main and genoa sheets with control push buttons.
Interiors
The standard interior layout features a double bunk in the bow and sofas in the salon. The head and the basin
are integrated in the internal furniture such as the lockers.
The interior styling is clean and simple with carbon soles,
exposed carbon hull lining, and metallic grey bulkheads and ceilings.
Keel system
Wallynano features two keel options:
1. mediterranean version (optional)
2.60 m draft
2. solent version (standard)
2.20 m draft
The Mediterranean version and the Solent version feature
the exchangeable keel to make it easy to switch from one version to the other.
Sail plan
The sail plan includes a carbon spars package with a retractable bowsprit for the gennaker. The high aspect ratio rig is designed for easy handling and fast sailing. The sail area is large but the center is kept low thanks to the bowsprit, allowing to have a comfortableself-tacking jib on the first half and a large gennaker on the extended end. With these two sails and the main, the helmsman can enjoy sailing the boat always at the top performance.
